Warm up this winter with Tasman Sea Salt.

While it may be wild and wintry on the east coast of Tasmania this Off-Season, we'll help you take the chill off with a welcoming hot umami broth-shot to warm the insides, as you take a tour of Tasman Sea Salt's unique clean energy saltworks.

Then head up to Mayfield Estate and warm yourself in front of the wood fire, before enjoying sea salt tastings and wonderful views across the rugged Freycinet Peninsula from the warmth of the cellar door.

  • Enjoy an immersive tour of the saltworks, learning how we use naturally occurring energy to harvest our pure sea salt flakes, through a production process that is the only one of its kind in the world.

  • Afterwards, we’ll dive into the world of sea salt - find out about the importance of sea salt, both for our bodies and as a seasoning, how it impacts flavour and the way we taste food, and why this humble mineral has been responsible for the rise and fall of empires.

  • Enjoy this intimate experience while sampling a selection of small bites pairing our sea salts with locally sourced produce.

 

 

HOW TO BOOK

  • The Salt Sommelier is available for general booking on:

    • Mondays at 11am

    • Thursdays at 2pm

    • Fridays at 2pm

  • Bookings are essential - please follow the link below to book.

  • The experience can be booked at other times, for groups of 6 adults or more. Please contact us directly to arrange.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION & FAQ’s

  • The Salt Sommelier is an interactive experience and will last approximately 1 hour 30 mins.

  • Children under 10 years of age are welcome to join free of charge without the need to book but please advise numbers in the comments section. If you would like your child to partake in the tasting please purchase a child ticket for them.

  • There is a maximum of 10 guests on this experience. If you have a larger group please contact us to arrange a bespoke tour and tasting.

  • If you require a vegetarian, pescatarian or gluten free pairing menu please let us know in the comments section when you book. Unfortunately, we are not able to cater for other individual dietary requirements. If you have any specific allergies, please let us know and we will do our best to ensure these items are removed from your tasting menu.

  • The Mayfield Estate wine add-ons are strictly for guests aged 18 years or over.
